It is here where you will have a most fulfilling dining experience at a restaurant that will have you travelling back to the nostalgic and historical times as you sip on Zorgvliet wine and delve into delicious gourmet dishes.
Herenhuis Restaurant was in the past the original manor house on the Zorgvliet wine farm. The old house was completely restored to its former glory – it currently houses the Zorgvliet Herenhuis Restaurant. The original homestead was saved from complete decay and specific attention was given to the conservation of existing structures. Local artist Robert Koch was commissioned to portray the exquisite Banhoek Valley and the Zorgvliet Manor House in a series of seven paintings. These paintings now form an integral part of the atmosphere and grace each of the three eating rooms at the wine farm restaurant, namely the Banhoek Kitchen, the Beyers Room and the Bootmanskop Room, referring to the old Cape mariners.
Every last Friday of the month Herenhuis Restaurant presents the Chef's Table which guests can book for no more than 10 guests at a time. The Executive Chef and his team will present each of five courses offered at the wine farm restaurant letting you know how each dish is prepared and what ingredients have been used in the dish. Zorgvliet’s winemaker will do a wine pairing for each dish and explain how the wine complements the dish. He will also explain to you and your guests around the table where each specific wine comes from.
This wine farm restaurant has also introduced Wine Incentive Scheme to encourage its employees to reach their targets. As part of the Zorgvliet Portfolio, Herenhuis Restaurant follows an employment policy of empowering local communities by giving them first preference when hiring.
